Camillo

When you grow up with a rare condition, you know you will live with this for the rest of your life and you and the way you see the world are shaped accordingly. Camillo was born and raised in the Italian region Campania. He is a high school student, dreaming of becoming a lawyer or an economist. We met him at the headquarters of the patient association that has supported him since he was a child. During his childhood, he was the mascot of awareness activities, from football matches to documentaries, about his condition: beta thalassaemia major. This is a severe anaemia, also known as Mediterranean anaemia, that requires regular blood transfusions.
